Substance Abuse Counselor

Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed! Position Overview The Substance Abuse Counselor will be in charge of assisting patients through medically assisted programs and offering techniques for handling opioid use disorder. The counselor conducts group and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Additionally, counselors evaluate patients’ progress during therapy and may collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other therapists to support the best overall outcome. Responsibilities Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination Completes bio-psychosocial assessment Provides individual and group counseling services; conducts direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinates all services throughout treatment Involves families and significant others in patient’s recovery process whenever possible Develops and participates in individual or group patient teaching projects Performs other related duties as determined by supervisor Qualifications Must have a licensed LCAS or CADC in the state of North Carolina Preferred: at least one year of experience working with medically assisted treatment addiction patients Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population Ideal candidate is personable, adaptable, and coachable, with a passion for this career path and empathy for patients’ struggles Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen Benefits Competitive salary Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) Generous paid time off and paid holidays Excellent growth and development opportunities through the counselor career path Rewarding opportunity with the ability to impact individuals’ lives What to Expect from Us BAART Programs, a BayMark Health Services Company, is a progressive substance abuse treatment organization committed to the highest quality of patient care in a comfortable outpatient clinic setting.
