Job Description Unit Secretary for Intensive Critical Care Unit and Critical Care Unit at UW Medical Center–Northwest. Work Schedule

50% FTE

Evening Shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm) Week 1/3 – Mon, Sat, Sun; Week 2/4 – Tues, Wed Department Description Unit tailored for critically ill, heavily injured, or post‑surgical patients. Primary Job Responsibilities Answer telephones using defined etiquette standards; route calls and messages, greet and direct visitors, offer assistance, and answer questions. Facilitate and act as a liaison between the unit and other departments. Maintain office equipment, inventory, and supplies; organize work area at the unit nursing station. Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges; assemble patient records; demonstrate accuracy in transcription and order management; enter transfers and discharges into the computer; copy charts and prepare charts for Medical Records on discharge. Review MD orders and submit orders to Lab and Diagnostic Imaging; prioritize work and complete tasks timely. Answer patient intercom system; respond to patient needs and alerts; refer to other unit staff; assist with communication plan related to patient safety risks. Requirements High School diploma or GED equivalent. Compensation and Benefits Pay Range: $24.32 – $35.35 per hour. Benefits: for details visit the UW benefits website.
