HUNTINGTON COUNTRY CLUB Food & Beverage Manager Position Title: Food & Beverage Manager Reports To: General Manager Supervises: Events Coordinator, Dining Staff Supervisor, Dining & Beverage Manager ROLE OVERVIEW Huntington Country Club is seeking a Food & Beverage Manager whose core strength is running a team through clear direction and discipline. This role exists to make sure every shift, every event, and every weekend has explicit standards set in advance, the right person assigned to each task, and someone checking that it was actually done. We are not looking for someone who can simply run a service; we are looking for someone who delegates constantly, politely, and professionally. The single most important skill for this position is the ability to give clear, specific directives, both on paper and verbally, to the point that there is no ambiguity about who is doing what, by when, and to what standard, and then to follow up consistently to confirm they were carried out. Working closely with the General Manager, the F&B Manager delegates daily tasks and standards to all FOH staff — and is responsible for confirming those tasks are completed correctly, not simply for issuing them. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES — DELEGATION & FOLLOW-UP (PRIMARY FOCUS) Assign clear, specific tasks to staff for every shift, who is doing what, by when, to what standard. Run or assure pre-shift line-ups that set explicit expectations, specials, and event details, and confirm each person understands their assignment. Check in on assigned tasks throughout service to confirm they were completed as directed, not just handed off. Build a repeatable system of standards and checklists so expectations are consistent and easy to verify shift to shift. Create and enforce schedules, matching the right staff member to the right task for every shift and event. Identify and develop staff who can be trusted to take on greater responsibility with less direct oversight. Oversee the daily FOH food and beverage operation across all areas, ensuring service and presentation meet Club standards. Partner with the Executive Chef to align service flow with kitchen output and menu execution. Manage the beverage program, including wine, spirits, and bar inventory, ordering, and controls with the D&B Manager. Conduct regular inventory. Ensure accurate point-of-sale operation, member billing, and check accuracy. Maintain compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations. Execute directives from the General Manager precisely and promptly, and communicate proactively on status, issues, and outcomes. Serve as a dependable extension of the GM's leadership on the floor when the GM is off-site or unavailable. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Proven experience delegating to and directing service staff, preferably within a private club, hotel, or upscale restaurant setting. A demonstrated ability to give professional, polite, and clear, specific directives and to follow up consistently to confirm they were completed — this is the most important qualification for this role. Comfortable taking directions and executing them faithfully, while still exercising sound judgment. Working knowledge of beverage programs, POS systems, and inventory management practices. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to set expectations clearly and hold staff to them. Excellent communication skills, both with members and with team members at all levels. Availability to work weekends and holidays is required. Every shift starts with clear, specific service plans and assignments, no ambiguity about who is doing what. Directives are constant and consistent. Consistent, high-quality service across all dining and bar outlets, driven by clear direction and disciplined follow-up. The GM can hand off a directive and trust it will be carried out exactly as intended. In short, this role is judged first and foremost on polite and professional delegation and how reliably they are followed up on.
