Family Shelter Program CoordinatorFull-Time | Direct Hire | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM$22–$25/hour + Comprehensive BenefitsMake a Meaningful Difference Every DayWe are seeking a compassionate, organized, and mission-driven Family Shelter Program Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of a family shelter program serving approximately 50 families across congregate, scattered-site, and motel/hotel units.This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping families achieve stability, resilience, and independence while working in a collaborative, trauma-informed environment.Position OverviewThe Family Shelter Program Coordinator works closely with shelter leadership, case managers, and community partners to ensure families receive the support, resources, and guidance needed throughout their shelter stay.This position combines program coordination, participant support, housing assistance, documentation, and shelter operations responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipant Support & Program CoordinationUtilize trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches when working with participants and familiesWelcome and orient new participants to shelter programs, policies, and available resourcesBuild positive, collaborative relationships while maintaining professional boundariesAssist participants with housing applications, housing searches, and related documentationSupport families in accessing community resources and supportive servicesMonitor participant needs and ensure emergency and basic needs are addressedDocumentation & ComplianceMaintain accurate participant records and documentationComplete incident reports and required program documentationEnsure compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and program regulationsCommunicate effectively with internal teams to ensure continuity of careShelter OperationsCoordinate routine shelter inspections and maintenance requestsMonitor inventory and order household and program suppliesAssist with participant move-ins and move-outsSupport food pantry and resource distribution effortsMaintain accurate records of participant services and program activitiesCrisis Intervention & SafetyUtilize de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention skills when neededRespond appropriately to emergencies following program proceduresCollaborate with behavioral health and emergency response resources as necessaryPromote a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for participantsCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with case managers, maintenance staff, children's services, and leadership teamsParticipate in staff meetings, training programs, and ongoing professional developmentSupport housing stabilization efforts and participant success plansQualificationsRequiredStrong interpersonal and communication skillsExcellent organizational and documentation abilitiesAbility to work effectively with diverse populationsProficiency with computers and standard office softwareAbility to maintain confidentiality and professional boundariesDetail-oriented with strong problem-solving skillsPreferredExperience working in social services, shelters, housing programs, human services, community outreach, case management, or related fieldsKnowledge of trauma-informed care and strengths-based service modelsExperience supporting individuals and families experiencing housing instabilityPhysical RequirementsAbility to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsAbility to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs throughout the workdayAbility to work on a computer and complete documentation tasks regularlyWhy Join Us?Our organization is dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome housing instability and build a path toward long-term success.
