As a Floating Field Service Engineer, you will provide support to multiple sites as needed with the New York, NY site as your primary work location.Varian Proton Therapy Systems utilize the following subsystems:High VacuumCryogenics and Superconducting MagnetsHigh Voltage applications, AC and DCRF Power Delivery SystemX-ray with Computed TomographyIndustrial Robots and Motion ControlIndustrial PLC ControlsRadiation DosimetryResponsibilities for this position include:Maintain a high degree of professional knowledge and safety consciousness according to Varian/SHS guidelines to perform activities under the safest working conditions.Provide highly visible customer support including assisting our customer in the operation of the system.Serve as a company liaison with the customer on technical and/or administrative matters.Perform all operational quality checks including planned maintenance in a timely manner.Providing accurate, detailed and concise field service reportsComplete required assignments, Service Technical Bulletins and Upgrades in a timely manner.Complete mandatory training assignments and certifications on time to maintain FDA compliance.Become proficient in the use of internal software applications for both the business and Proton System such as Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Salesforce, Siemens PLC GUI and Varian Treatment Control applications.Be responsible for and/or support other field service site roles such as Site Safety Coordinator, Spare Parts Inventory Controller or Radiation Safety Coordinator.Meet all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to gain VMS client site access, unless prohibited by law.These requirements vary by client and may include, but are not limited to: Proof of valid identification (photo, driver's license, SSN) Criminal background checks, Drug screens, Immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus), Annual TB testing, Healthcare trainings (provided by Varian)This Position requires you to be available on a short notice to travel to other Proton Therapy sites and work on one of the following types of shifts, depending on the location1st, 2nd or 3rd, 8 hrs./dayCompressed Work Schedule, 10 or 12 hrs./day or night, 3 or 4 days/nights per weekRotating WeekendsUp to 85% Travel can be expectedMinimum Required Skills and KnowledgeAssociate's degree in an Engineering Technologies field of study OR 2 Years of prior applicable experience in military or high tech industryMust be able to occasionally work at heights above 20 feet or in cramped spacesFluency in English, both written and spokenMust have a customer focused attitudeAbility to troubleshoot by utilizing technical drawings and employment of root cause methodologiesAll candidates are expected to demonstrate intermediate level of knowledge in the proper use of the following tooling:Mechanical: Torque Wrenches; Precision Gauges & Levels; Vernier Scales, Calipers and Micrometers; Drills, Saws, Taps and Dies; Lubrication and AdhesivesElectrical: Digital Multi-Meter, Oscilloscopes, Circuit/Component tooling; SolderingOther Desired Skills and KnowledgeFluency in German, written and spokenFundamental knowledge of computer and network systemsPrevious experience in either a High Tech industry or Military technical support rolesNote: Candidate must live within close proximity or be willing to relocate to New York, NY. This is an on-site position that requires onsite work at local customer locations.
