Movement/Physical Education Enrichment Teacher

Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and adaptable Movement & Physical Education Instructor to join our community for the 2026–2027 academic year.

This role blends Waldorf-inspired movement with traditional physical education, helping students develop coordination, strength, balance, confidence, and a joyful relationship with physical activity.

Lessons might combine rhythmic movement, imaginative games, storytelling, and cooperative activities with foundational sports skills, fitness, teamwork, and age-appropriate physical challenges. We welcome an educator who can bring these approaches together thoughtfully, adapting instruction for students across grades 1–9.

Our goal is to help every student feel included, experience progress, and discover ways they enjoy moving.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate movement and physical education classes.
• Blend rhythm, imagination, and cooperative play with instruction in fundamental movement skills, sports, and fitness.
• Teach skills such as throwing, catching, kicking, jumping, balancing, and spatial awareness.
• Foster sportsmanship, perseverance, teamwork, and respect for different abilities.
• Adapt activities to support a range of ages, skill levels, and learning needs.
• Establish clear expectations and safe routines for movement, equipment use, and shared spaces.
• Incorporate outdoor play and nature-based activities when appropriate.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers and directors to support a consistent, caring community culture.
• Communicate with families through newsletters and updates.
• Support community events, showcases, and seasonal celebrations.

Who We’re Looking For

We value educators who:

• Bring warmth, steadiness, creativity, and enthusiasm to their teaching.

• Are interested in blending Waldorf-inspired practices with traditional physical education.
• Balance emotional safety and encouragement with clear, consistent expectations.
• Create inclusive activities that support both individual growth and group connection.
• Are reflective, flexible, collaborative, and open to learning.
• Believe physical education should be meaningful, engaging, and joyful.

A degree or teaching credential is preferred but not required. We welcome applicants whose relevant experience working with students in movement, sports, dance, outdoor education, coaching, or similar settings, has prepared them to lead engaging, safe, and inclusive classes. Experience with Waldorf education, mixed-age groups, or homeschool enrichment is welcome. We encourage applicants from both traditional and nontraditional educational backgrounds who feel aligned with Juniper’s mission and values.

How to Apply

Please submit:
