OPS DENTAL ASSISTANT

Requisition No: 875381 Agency: Department of Health Working Title: OPS DENTAL ASSISTANT - 64858655 Location: Panama City, FL, US (32401, 32405, 32402, 32404, 32408, 32413, 32407) Responsibilities Provide chair‑side dental assisting and clinical support during examinations and treatment procedures (restorations, extractions, pulpotomies, stainless steel crowns, preventive services). Maintain patient information according to state and federal statutes and DOH policies, entering oral health data promptly into the electronic health record (EHR). Prepare, monitor, and break down operatory rooms between patients to ensure readiness and compliance with infection‑control standards. Expose and process intra‑oral dental diagnostic x‑rays in accordance with state regulations. Perform expanded duties as permitted by law and training (fluoride, sealants, other preventive procedures). Provide oral‑hygiene education and pre‑/post‑operative instructions. Support patients with anxiety, special needs, or language barriers to ensure a positive care experience. Adhere strictly to CDC and OSHA infection‑control guidelines, performing instrument cleaning, sterilization (ultrasonic cleaners, autoclave, spore testing, waterline monitoring), and PPE compliance. Maintain adequate levels of clinical supplies, assisting with inventory tracking and ordering as needed. Assist with patient scheduling, clinic flow, and accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA and DOH requirements. Participate in public‑health initiatives, community outreach, mobile/off‑site clinics, and tracking program metrics. Collaborate with dental and clinic staff to maintain a safe, clean work environment; attend required staff meetings, trainings, and seminars. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements. Strong sterilization and instrument processing skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced clinical setting while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team. Ability to support community outreach and public health initiatives when applicable. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications : Willingness to work before, during, or beyond normal work hours in case of emergencies. Valid driver’s license.
