About the Position

Position Overview

A coastal North Carolina hospital is seeking a Board Certified General Surgeon for intermittent 24-hour call-only locum tenens coverage.

This is an excellent opportunity for surgeons looking for a low-volume community hospital assignment with no clinic responsibilities. Providers will cover emergent general surgery while working alongside an established surgeon and benefiting from comprehensive regional support, including rapid transfer capabilities through a large tertiary care network.

Pay Ranking: Competitive for community General Surgery call coverage in coastal North Carolina.

Assignment Highlights

24-hour call only (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
No clinic responsibilities
Established General Surgery practice
Day-before orientation required
Average 15 patient encounters while on call
Approximately 8–16 operative cases per week
No ICU responsibilities
No code response requirements
Epic EMR
ECU Health Air and Ground transport available for tertiary transfers
Beautiful coastal North Carolina location
