Good beer, good food, & great service are the core of The Southern Growl Beer Company. The kitchen is led by Best of the Upstate 2022 Best Chef Eli Biggs and co-executive chef Brando Estrada, along with their talented team. The Southern Growl has experienced significant growth over the past several years, and we are looking for passionate people to prepare quality food in this fast-paced kitchen. Line cook responsibilities consist of working with a team to provide high-quality, well-prepared food that pairs with house-brewed beer. Responsibilities:

• Cook menu items for customers in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff. Use of fryer, grill, sauté, and garde stations.
• Prepare food for service. (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
• Assist with opening the kitchen for service by setting up and stocking stations with necessary supplies.
• Assist with closing the kitchen at the end of the night.

Qualifications:

• Commercial Kitchen experience is a plus, but not required.
• 21+ years old

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb, lift, reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift at least 60 pounds.
• Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours in a hot, wet, humid, and loud environment.
• Uses repetitive motions.
• Can move quickly when necessary.
• Can work in both hot and cold temperatures.
• Able to smile and carry a positive conversation in a variety of situations.

Time Requirements:

• The Southern Growl is open for lunch and dinner Wednesday to Sunday. Flexible schedule is required with evening and weekend availability.
• up to 12-hour shifts

Compensation:

• $19.00/hr beginning pay
