Lead Land Development Civil Engineer (PE)

A day in this role

You start your morning reviewing a site grading plan in AutoCAD Civil 3D, confirming earthwork balances and mapping documents before a client touchpoint. By mid-morning, you lead a quick huddle across disciplines—survey, environmental, and traffic—to align on submittal milestones and budget updates for multiple active projects. After lunch, you mentor a junior engineer through hydrologic calculations and stormwater design approaches common to San Diego County. You close the day finalizing a concept package, ensuring the work is on track for both schedule and cost, and checking in with a long-standing client to anticipate next-phase needs.

What you will lead

• Full lifecycle delivery of land development projects—from initial concept through construction support.
• Concurrent management of several assignments, meeting deadlines and budget targets.
• Technical oversight of civil design tasks: hydrologic calculations, earthwork analysis, and production of mapping documents.
• Mentorship and technical guidance for junior engineers; coordination across interdisciplinary teams.
• Client engagement to capture requirements, present solutions, and nurture long-term partnerships.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; California PE preferred.
• 12+ years of hands-on experience in land development.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; familiarity with San Diego County stormwater standards is a plus.
• Clear communicator who excels at balancing multiple priorities.
