Job Title: Wire Harness Assembler Job Description
The Wire Harness Assembler is responsible for building, refurbishing, and repairing wire harness assemblies of varying sizes. This role involves basic wire cutting, stripping, and crimping, as well as interpreting diagrams and using specialized software to ensure each harness meets quality and performance standards.
Responsibilities
Perform basic wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and assembly for a variety of wire harnesses.
Organize and coordinate daily work assignments to ensure efficient workflow and on-time completion of tasks.
Inspect wire harnesses to identify damaged wires and components and carry out necessary repairs.
Document and organize notes, repairs, and wire replacements to maintain accurate records and ensure harness quality.
Use EPlan software to map out, diagram, and verify each wire harness configuration.
Gather, order, and manage all materials required to complete wire harness repairs and assemblies.
Research and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints needed to complete specific jobs.
Provide customer service support by answering technical questions related to wire harness repair and assembly.
Follow production and assembly procedures to maintain consistent quality and safety standards.
Use basic hand tools and equipment correctly and safely during assembly and repair tasks.
Essential Skills
Hands-on assembly experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
Basic crimping and cutting experience for electrical wiring and components.
Ability to understand and interpret basic blueprint drawings and wiring diagrams.
Experience with wire assembly, wire harness assembly, and general assembly work.
Familiarity with inspection processes for electrical wiring and harnesses.
Comfort using computers and production-related software tools.
Proficiency with basic hand tools used in electrical and mechanical assembly.
Experience with electrical wiring, soldering, and mechanical assembly tasks.
Ability to follow written and visual instructions with strong attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in the automotive industry is a strong plus.
Strong wire harness assembly experience, including complex or large harnesses, is preferred.
Experience working with blueprints and technical drawings in a manufacturing setting.
Familiarity with EPlan or similar electrical design and diagramming software is beneficial.
Background in general production work, including assembly and inspection, is advantageous.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean warehouse facility with individual workstations dedicated to electrical wire assembly and refurbishment. The environment is climate-controlled, free from strong odors, and designed to support focused, detail-oriented work. Team members use basic hand tools, electrical wiring and crimping equipment, and computers with specialized software such as EPlan to complete their tasks, working within a structured production setting that emphasizes comfort, cleanliness, and organization.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
