Assistant Coach, Softball – Job Description Stanford’s Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation ("DAPER") is the premier intercollegiate athletics program in the country. We support nearly 900 student-athletes who compete on 36 intercollegiate athletics teams and also support the university’s physical education, recreation and wellness initiatives. DAPER is seeking an exceptional Assistant Coach, Softball to support the overall success of the Stanford Softball program. The assistant coach plays an integral role in the success of the Softball program by supporting the holistic development of student-athletes and contributing to the day-to-day operations of the program. Responsibilities span player development, technology and performance support, recruiting operations, program logistics, special events, and other strategic and operational initiatives that support the evolving needs of the program. Reporting to the Head Softball Coach, this position collaborates across coaching, recruiting, player development, operations, and program administration to create an exceptional student‑athlete experience and advance the competitive success of Stanford Softball. This is an onsite fixed‑term role. Success In This Role Requires A collaborative, team‑first approach and a commitment to supporting the mission and values of Stanford Athletics. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Initiative, adaptability, and sound judgment in responding to changing program needs. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with student‑athletes, coaches, alumni, donors, recruits, and campus partners. A passion for student‑athlete development and creating an outstanding program experience. Duties Include But Are Not Limited To Player Development: Support a broad spectrum of player development activities, from skill instruction to set‑up and tear‑down tasks; on‑field instruction; practice preparation; and other activities that enhance student‑athlete performance. Technology & Performance Support: Coordinate and utilize technology, video, analytics, and performance support systems to assist with coaching, player development, and program operations. Experience or familiarity with Hudl, Trackman, SpinBall, FungoMan, game‑day capture and tagging, practice capture and tagging. Recruiting Operations: Provide operational and administrative support for recruiting activities, including prospect management, communications, maintaining recruiting databases, campus visit coordination, and all recruiting logistics. Camps & Program Initiatives: Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of camps, clinics, and other program initiatives. Student‑Athlete Performance Support: Coordinate and maintain team nutrition resources, including oversight of the student‑athlete fueling station and collaboration with appropriate campus partners. Alumnae & Community Engagement: Foster positive engagement with softball alumnae and support initiatives that strengthen program relationships and community. Assist in the planning and execution of team, alumnae, donor, recruiting, and special program events. Events & Special Projects: Assist in the planning and execution of team, alumnae, donor, recruiting, and other special events that support the Stanford Softball program. Program Operations: Coordinate and support program operations, administrative projects, and other strategic initiatives as assigned by the Head Coach. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with coaches, Athletics staff, and campus partners to support the overall success of the Stanford Softball program. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Stanford Softball program. Minimum Requirements: Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multitask. Demonstrated excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions. Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team. Relevant subject matter knowledge. Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision. Benefits and Compensation The expected pay range for this position is $70,250- $72,500 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, the opportunity to and external market pay for comparable jobs.
