Job Summary This is a College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) Administration-level position within Western University of Health Sciences and is offered in conjunction with a faculty appointment. Together, the administrative role of Associate Dean of Faculty and Staff Affairs ( PCN A04048) and the faculty role ( PCN F03355) comprise a full-time position (1.0 FTE). The salary range listed in this posting represents the total compensation for the combined Administrative and Faculty responsibilities. Please refer to the corresponding job posting under our Faculty jobs section for details on the additional assignment. The Associate Dean of Faculty and Staff Affairs serves as a senior leader within the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP), providing strategic oversight and operational leadership across academic, clinical, and administrative domains. This role ensures alignment with the college’s mission, vision, and values while fostering excellence in education, research, and patient care. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of higher education administration, accreditation standards, and integration of academic and clinical programs. Skills: Strong strategic leadership skills, including planning, program oversight, and data‑informed decision‑making. Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders and support shared governance. Demonstrated success in faculty and staff management, accreditation processes, and strategic planning. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Abilities: Ability to lead faculty and staff development efforts across the full lifecycle, including recruitment, mentoring, evaluation, and retention. Ability to manage complex organizational dynamics, drive continuous improvement, and ensure regulatory compliance. Capacity to foster an inclusive, high‑performing culture aligned with institutional mission and priorities. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism. Required Qualifications Education: Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required. Residency trained and Board Certified in a medical or surgical specialty. Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in medical education and/or clinical practice. Preferred Qualifications Advanced academic credentials preferred. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Governance: Oversee and support Department Chairs in achieving departmental goals, ensuring academic and clinical excellence. Assist with faculty workforce and staffing projections. Review teaching assignments, service loads, and support them in balancing workloads. Generate supporting documentation for accreditation site visits and reviews. Assist the Vice Dean of College Affairs in reporting personnel metrics. Collaborate with the Dean, Vice Dean and senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives for the college. Faculty Affairs: Lead faculty recruitment, retention, promotion, and development of processes to support these efforts. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies related to faculty governance. Assist with the oversight of faculty relations and conflict resolution. Develop, implement, and oversee a unified process for faculty evaluations and faculty performance measures. Collaborate with the College Faculty Assembly Chair on matters that impact faculty governance and with the development of college policies. Staff Operations: Provide oversight of staff operations within COMP, promoting a positive and productive work environment. Support professional growth and performance management for administrative and support staff. Assist with the oversight of staff relations and conflict resolution. Continuing Medical Education (CME): Direct CME programming to meet the educational needs of practicing physicians and healthcare professionals. Ensure CME activities comply with accreditation requirements and advance lifelong learning. Professional Development: Develop and implement faculty and staff development programs to enhance teaching, leadership, and clinical skills. Provide oversight of the faculty‑led Mission Aligned Professional Development team. Promote mentorship and career advancement opportunities. Clinical Affairs: Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to ensure high‑quality patient care and clinical education. Support integration of clinical services with academic programs to enhance student learning and community health impact. Work Schedule 40 hours per week. Usual business hours, Monday–Friday 8 AM – 5 PM. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Expected Pay Scale Minimum: $248,000.00 Annually Maximum: $263,000.00 Annually Physical Demands Do the essential functions of this job require lifting? Yes. The employee is frequently required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, and stoop. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Work Environment Duties of the position are normally performed in a typical office setting. The noise level in this setting is usually moderate due to office machines and/or computer printers, and light office traffic.
