Cardiac Sonographer

Seeking an experienced cardiac sonographer with expertise in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) and pediatric echocardiography. Location: Orlando Health facilities in Downtown Orlando, Florida. Shift: Day Shift Monday - Friday 8:00 A.M - 4:30 P.M. Rotating call, weekends, and holidays. Setting: Inpatient and Outpatient.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, and equipment operation and maintenance.
• Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions.
• Works independently with guidance in only the most complex situations.
• Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
• Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information.
• Works closely with the provider to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic exams, and functions independently in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager.
• Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
• Assesses the patient's physical condition and age specific needs.
• Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
• Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient's clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
• Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
• Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
• Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
• Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
• Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
• Maintains accurate and precise documentation.
• Accurately record verbal and telephone orders from physicians in the patient record.
• Participates in supervising student sonographers, training, and orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow.
• Participates in quality and safety initiatives, acting as a department super user, participates in committees related to modality, department, or facility, participates in educational in-services, and complex care programs.
• Assist in transporting of patients.
• Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation.
• Assists in clerical duties, such as, but not limited to, printing reports, scanning documents, and scheduling of patients.
• May be required to work at any Orlando Health facility.
• Assists with other departmental duties and responsibilities as needed.
• May be required to assist with contrast administration if pertinent to department.
• May be required to assist with intravenous (IV) insertion and removal for the administration of diagnostic contrast medication if pertinent to department.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years in Pediatric Echocardiography.
• Minimum 1 year in Adult Echocardiography.
• Current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
• Meets education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines.
• Must maintain one of the following: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (AS), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• Must demonstrate competency in routinely performing at least TEN of the following Echocardiography and/or Vascular ultrasound exams pertinent to department.
