Job Description

The Quality Manager leads production-facing quality teams with a strong operations mindset, partnering closely with Operations to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve both quality and production challenges. This role oversees the Laboratory, Line QC, and Quality Support teams and maintains a highly visible presence on the production floor, supporting incoming materials, in-process blending, and production quality activities. The Quality Manager focuses on leadership, coaching, and engagement, building accountability within the quality organization while driving continuous improvement across quality systems and manufacturing processes. The position is customer-facing, responsible for leading audits and quality investigations, and balancing regulatory requirements with practical operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Laboratory, Line QC, and Quality Support teams, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to strengthen engagement and accountability.

• Partner closely with Operations leadership to identify, troubleshoot, and solve quality and production challenges across manufacturing processes.

• Maintain a strong presence on the production floor to support incoming materials inspection, in-process blending oversight, and production quality activities.

• Manage production-facing QC teams, including during periods of turnover, by coaching employees, building accountability, and reinforcing a high-performance culture.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across quality systems and manufacturing processes to enhance product consistency, efficiency, and compliance.

• Oversee and support laboratory operations, ensuring testing is conducted accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with chemistry and quality standards.

• Lead customer-facing quality activities, including audits, quality investigations, and responses to quality-related inquiries.

• Balance regulatory and quality system requirements with practical operational needs to support safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing.

• Ensure quality control practices align with ISO 9001 principles and internal quality standards.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues, implement corrective and preventive actions, and monitor effectiveness.

• Support and guide QC staff in the review and disposition of incoming materials, in-process batches, and finished products.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, quality ownership, and open communication within the quality organization and across production teams.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a quality leadership role within a manufacturing environment.

• Proven experience managing production-facing QC teams and leading through periods of organizational change or turnover.

• Strong people leadership skills with the ability to coach, engage, and build accountability within diverse quality teams.

• Solid understanding of laboratory operations and chemistry sufficient to effectively oversee lab activities and support technical decision-making.

• Demonstrated ability to partner closely with Operations to solve complex quality and production challenges.

• Experience leading customer-facing audits and quality investigations.

• Knowledge of quality control principles and practices, including ISO 9001.

• Ability to balance regulatory and quality system requirements with practical manufacturing needs.

• Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset with a focus on quality systems and manufacturing processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment that operates multiple shifts.

• Experience in supporting incoming materials, in-process blending, and production quality activities.

• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external customers.

• Comfort working in a highly visible role on the production floor and in customer-facing situations.

• Familiarity with quality management systems and documentation aligned with ISO 9001 standards.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift, Monday–Friday role that supports a manufacturing operation running 24 hours per day, 5 days per week, so flexibility to support off-hours needs when required is important. The Quality Manager works closely with approximately 30 team members, including about 20 line technicians, 1 QC supervisor, 2 quality specialists, and a lab team of 3 technicians/chemists. The environment is production-floor and laboratory based, with regular interaction between operations and quality teams. The organization operates on a fiscal year that ends in late November, and the role involves active participation in quality and production activities throughout the year.

This is a Permanent position based out of Edgerton, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
