Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Day/Night rotation, 12-hour shifts (0700-1930, 1900-0730) with every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed. Rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days/nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period, with 36 hours off between schedule flips for patient care shifts.

Highlights:

• Med/Surg unit serving adult and geriatric populations under Family Medicine service with diverse diagnoses and conditions
• 25-room unit with daily census of approximately 20 patients; telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Epic charting system experience required; must pass telemetry exam prior to start with strict passing criteria
• Specialized unit includes Department of Corrections patients in a secure locked wing; staff always accompanied by DOC officers when providing care
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, radiology, and rapid response teams
• Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's top hospital and recognized nationally as a leading teaching and referral center

Requirements:

• Current Wisconsin RN license or compact state license
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in medical/surgical or telemetry specialty
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• Proficiency starting and maintaining IVs (required skill)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must successfully pass telemetry dysrhythmia interpretation exam prior to start (strict passing criteria applies)
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, isolation precautions, central lines, PICC lines, wound care, PCAs, insulin and heparin administration, and substance withdrawal management preferred
• Previous experience with Department of Corrections or law enforcement patients is a plus
