Target Security Specialist

Job Overview Starting Hourly Rate: $21.75 USD per hour This position is part of the Assets Protection team at Target, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of guests, team members, and merchandise while providing a positive shopping experience. Responsibilities Use intelligence‑led tactics to protect guests and team members. Respond to crises, manage safety and crowd control, and de‑escalate situations. Operate Target’s video surveillance system and document incidents accurately in the case management system. Promote a culture of physical security and ethical conduct throughout the store. Conduct merchandise theft recoveries, perform merchandise receipt checks, and investigate shortages. Assist guests in finding items, resolving issues, and ensuring a friendly interaction within a 10‑ft. to 4‑ft. greeting range. Support team efforts, adjust to business and guest needs, and maintain a positive attitude. Qualifications At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. Meet any state or local licensure or other legal requirements related to the position. Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members. Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices, operate handheld scanners, and use other technology equipment as directed. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team. Capability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and remain focused in a fast‑paced environment. Physical ability to climb ladders, apprehend subjects according to policy, and lift up to 40 pounds without assistance. Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
