Certified Medical Assistant

Principal Accountabilities:

• Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
• Documents appropriate correspondence, assessments, and care in patient's electronic medical records (EMR).
• Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
• Monitors environment for compliance with continual accreditation readiness and evaluates practice schedule for changes or updates.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating elements of holistic patient-centered and team-based care.
• Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
• Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
• Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. 3-5 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or relevant area. National Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program. National Certified Medical Assistant designation. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and re-certification every two years.
• National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT. Preferred: Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
