Histology Technician

Now Hiring: Histotechnician – Direct Hire Location: White Plains, NY Shift: Evening; days and hours may vary Pay Range: $32.51 – $48.76 per hour Responsibilities Perform embedding and sectioning of tissue blocks according to established protocols. Perform and evaluate routine H&E staining, special stains, and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Review positive and negative controls and maintain appropriate documentation. Ensure accuracy and quality throughout the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic testing processes. Perform quality control activities, instrument verification, calibration, and equipment maintenance. Identify and document testing issues and implement appropriate corrective actions. Participate in validations, proficiency testing, competency assessments, training, and inspection audits. Support regulatory compliance and readiness for CAP, AABB, NYSDOH, and Joint Commission requirements. Maintain laboratory inventory, including lot numbers, expiration dates, labeling, and QC requirements. Evaluate test results for abnormalities and follow established department protocols. Complete required annual training, continuing education, and in-service programs. Maintain 12 continuing education credits annually. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Current NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician License, NYS Histotechnician License, or NYS Physician Assistant License required. Education must meet NYS Office of Professions and CLIA requirements for laboratory testing personnel. Degree in Medical Technology or a related science preferred. One year of relevant hospital Histology experience preferred. ASCP certification preferred.
