POSITION PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager for CCSEP, the Peer Support Supervisor provides leadership, oversight, and support to a team of four (4) Peer Support Specialist to ensure high-quality, recovery-oriented employment services for program participants. This position is responsible for supervising staff performance, providing regular and operational supervision, ensuring fidelity to the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, and promoting integration with mental health teams. The Supervisor supports a client-centered and service-focused work environment by guiding staff in effective service delivery, reviewing client outcomes, and implementing performance improvement strategies. This position will travel to multiple office locations.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective coaching, supervision, and mentorship to four (4) Peer Support Specialists across two office locations, supporting recovery-oriented practice and positive participant outcomes.
  • Conducts weekly individual and/or group supervision sessions to review client cases, address barriers to employment, provide clinical and operational guidance, and support effective service planning.
  • Strong skills in collaboration and relationship-building with multidisciplinary teams, community partners, and behavioral health providers to support coordinated and person-centered care.
  • Knowledge of serious mental illness (SMI), co-occurring disorders, trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented services, and the principles of peer support within behavioral health systems.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, respectful, and recovery-focused manner, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, cultural humility, and sound judgment when working with clients, peers, and staff.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), for documentation, reporting, and administrative support across multiple sites.
  • Provides administrative, operational, and management support to the Program Manager as assigned.
  • Assists with data collection, tracking, analysis, and preparation of internal and external reports to support compliance, program monitoring, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) practices, and Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) principles in support of participant recovery and employment services.
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director and Program Manager.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and Ability of:
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach, supervise, and support Peer Support Specialist to promote positive client outcomes and adherence to program standards.
  • Strong skills in collaboration and relationship-building with community partners, behavioral health providers, and external agencies to support integrated service delivery.
  • Knowledge of serious mental illness (SMI), co-occurring disorders, biopsychosocial rehabilitation principles, and evidence-based practices within recovery-oriented employment programs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and tactfully, exercising discretion, objectivity, and cultural sensitivity when interacting with clients, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications and software, including Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for documentation, reporting, and presentations.

Language Skills:

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions primarily in English from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public; demonstrated skills in written and oral communication. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Reasoning Ability:


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Experience and Training:

Completion of a bachelor's degree program from an accredited university in the field of Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration or a related field. Three (3) years' experience in IPS program and/or case management in behavioral health with supervisory experience preferred. Must be Peer Support Specialist Certified and if NOT upon hire staff must complete the mandatory certification requirement within 6 months of hire.


LICENSES, CERTIFICATES & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

A Valid Driver's License with current California automobile insurance; A Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification; A Valid Tuberculosis Blood (TB) test upon hire and must maintain every two (2) to four (4) years depending on the contract requirements.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; read, interpret, and apply information and documents; exercise problem-solving and organizational skills; learn and apply new procedures and information; and manage multiple detailed tasks simultaneously. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, changing priorities, and deadlines while maintaining professionalism, patience, and a supportive approach when interacting with management, staff, vendors, program participants, including individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), and members of the public who may at times be anxious, upset, or impatient.
