Limited Appointment Instructional Support Assistant - Cherokee Elementary School (328595) Location: Scottsdale USD 48 Cherokee Elementary School, Paradise Valley, Arizona. Application Deadline: July 15, 2026 11:59 PM (Mountain Standard Time). Starting Date: Immediately. Pay Grade: C. FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt. Position Objective: Assists certified teachers with classroom activities. Duties may include making materials, setting up and monitoring student activities, moving and shelving books, stocking and cleaning rooms, copying materials, and assisting students with personal hygiene activities. Duties & Responsibilities: Assist teacher in classroom instruction and work with children during instructional activities. Monitor children’s behavior inside and outside of the classroom. Assist with clean‑up and related tasks following daily activities. Prepare classroom for activities, including organizing assignments and preparing homework folders. Attend meetings and in‑service training sessions. Create bulletin boards, maintain materials and supplies, contact parents, and make copies. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level. Education & Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties. Licensing Requirements: Title Schools: 60 hours of secondary education or successful completion of the Paraprofessional test. Special Needs: Obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment. Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC). Knowledge: Basic first aid, child care principles, basic English language and grammar, basic mathematical skills. Skills: Monitoring and assisting children with activities, using office equipment, dealing patiently with children, maintaining order and discipline, performing routine mathematical calculations, providing customer service, and communication/interpersonal skills with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public. Physical Requirements: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Medium Work: Exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be exposed to odors, extreme temperatures, and intense noises. Return to Work: Retirees will have an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than listed below without falling below minimum wage. Position Type: 5 hours/day. Salary: $16.31 to $16.97 per hour.
