Senior Accountant

Our client, a growing energy company in West Houston, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This position offers broad exposure to financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and analysis across multiple operating entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, thrive in a collaborative environment, and enjoy working in a fast-paced industry.

What You'll Do

• Manage the monthly accounting cycle, including preparing and posting journal entries
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding items
• Assist with the compilation and review of monthly and year-end financial reporting packages
• Analyze financial activity and provide explanations for fluctuations and unusual trends
• Support the Controller with reporting, compliance, and special projects
• Participate in the annual audit process and prepare requested documentation
• Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
• Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
• Partner with various departments to gather information and resolve accounting-related issues
• Assist with reporting requirements for multiple entities and business units

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience OR 2 years of upstream oil & gas accounting experience required
• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and general ledger processes
• Experience preparing account reconciliations and analyzing financial data
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• CPA or CPA-track candidates are encouraged to apply
