Responsibilities
- Provide prescribed respiratory care to patients, including ventilator management and delivery of therapies such as oxygen, bronchodilators, and humidity or aerosolized medications.
- Establish and adjust ventilator settings using metric measurements and principles of volume, flow, pressure, and time; monitor patient response and safety.
- Monitor and interpret gas exchange data and acid-base balance; assess electrolyte relationships and respond to life-threatening changes as needed.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory equipment; document care in the electronic medical record (Meditech) and ensure accurate medication administration and therapy documentation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (nursing, physicians, and allied staff); participate in rounds and contribute to care planning and patient progress updates.

Requirements
- NY State license as Respiratory Therapist; RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
- BLS and ACLS certification required; NRP and PALS preferred
- Graduation from a AMA-accredited school for Respiratory Care
- Knowledge of acid/base relationships and critical care monitoring; experience with ventilator management
- EMR experience with Meditech preferred; ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting
