Summary of Role The Employee Benefits Consultant is a revenue-generating, new-business role responsible for growing Montreut's employee benefits book of business. In this role you will prospect, build relationships, and close new employer clients, while also driving retention and organic growth within an assigned book. Leveraging Montreut's integrated platform, MontyOS, and the firm's full advisory capabilities across benefits, risk, health, and wealth, you will position Montreut as a trusted strategic partner to employers rather than just another broker. Working closely with an Account Executive, who owns implementation and day-to-day service, you will lead the client relationship at the strategic and executive level. The ideal candidate is a career-driven, entrepreneurial self-starter who thrives on building relationships, solving employer problems with creative benefits strategies, and closing new business. Main Responsibilities New Business Development Achieve annualized new business sales targets within Montreut's mid-sized target market, with a focus on self-funded, level-funded, and other alternative funding strategies Develop and execute a prospecting plan, using referrals, networking, centers of influence, and market insights to identify and qualify target employers Lead the full sales cycle from initial outreach through proposal, negotiation, and close Maintain accurate pipeline and forecasting data to support activity and revenue goals Lead the sale and long-term strategic direction for assigned clients, partnering closely with the Account Executive to retain business year over year Advise clients and prospects on alternative funding arrangements and Montreut's integrated advisory model across benefits, risk, health, and wealth Partner with the Account Executive on renewal strategy and key client meetings, bringing a strategic and financial lens to plan design and funding decisions Identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities across Montreut's full suite of services Maintain strong working knowledge of self-funded/alternative funding markets, competitors, and industry trends to clearly differentiate Montreut's offering Represent Montreut at industry events and networking functions to build new relationships and pipeline Collaborate with Account Executives and internal teams on complex client strategy and problem-solving Qualifications Active 2-15 (Health & Life) insurance license required 5+ years of new business sales experience in employee benefits, with a proven track record of sales success Demonstrated experience with self-funded, level-funded, or other alternative funding strategies Consultative sales approach with strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills Ability to engage and present with the C-suite; strong executive presence Strong visibility within the Human Resources and benefits community Business acumen and a strategic, consultative thought process Intellectually curious with a growth mindset Why Join Montreut?
