POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to the Chief Compliance & Diversity Officer (CDO), the Assistant Director’s duties include but are not limited to the following responsibilities: (Campus-specific Information and duties) Under supervision of the CDO assists in investigations of complaints of discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation pursuant to CUNY policies, Title VI, VII, IX, Section 504, federal, state, and local laws. Serve as case manager to ensure timely response and processing of all complaints and other office matters. Experience or formal training in trauma-informed interviewing techniques, specifically within the context of Title IX, EEO, or workplace misconduct investigations. Ability to maintain neutrality and professionalism in high-pressure situations, with a focus on psychological safety and procedural fairness. Ensure effective, efficient, thorough, and impartial investigations that emphasize attention to detail, accuracy, and relevance in the fact-finding process. Appropriately document interviews and investigative findings. Assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors regarding CUNY’s Policy on Sexual Misconduct and CUNY’s Policy on Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination, including case intake, answering questions on the rights of parties involved, resource referrals, and procedural questions. Familiarity with federal and state regulations, including Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, ADA/Section 504, and the latest OFCCP mandates relevant to higher education. Assist with training and developing responsive training programs to diverse campus stakeholders related to Title IX/Enough is Enough (EIE), EEO, Diversity and other compliance initiatives. Proven ability to collaborate with Campus Counsel, Human Resources, Student Affairs, and Public Safety to ensure a unified approach to compliance and campus safety. Attend meetings and coordinate with the University offices to ensure consistency in CUNY-wide policies. Assists with the management of the recruitment and search procedures to promote diversity in all hiring and recruitment processes. Perform all other duties as assigned by the CDO.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and six years’ related experience required. Preferred: Two years professional experience investigating Title VI, Title VII, Title IX and/or ADA complaints or similar investigation or litigation experience Master’s Degree Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, laws and guidelines including Titles VI, VII, and IX, ADAA, Section 504, state and local disability laws and CUNY policies Effective conflict resolution skills and the ability to determine mutually acceptable solutions for difficult problems with competing interests Excellent interpersonal, analytical and oral/written communication skills Computer applications: proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and PeopleSoftCUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Manages diversity policies, procedures, and initiatives to support CUNY's strong commitment to a diverse and respectful workplace. Oversees the implementation, administration, and communication of diversity programs Collaborates with the college Chief Diversity Officer and campus management to develop and implement programs, prepare plans and reports, perform internal compliance audits, and resolve questions and concerns Prepares and trains on CUNY compliance mandates and relevant city, state, and federal statutes such as Title VII, Title IX (Sexual Harassment Policies), Section 504, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Collects, analyzes, and prepares reports, identifying and presenting findings, patterns and trends, and recommending college policy and procedural changes Performs related duties as assigned. Salary Range: $86,741 - $98,995. Salary commensurate with education and experience. CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
