Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift

Maintenance Technician IIBlueScope Recycling is a full-service, ferrous scrap metal recycler with processing facilities in Waterloo, IN, Delta, OH, and Mansfield, OH. BlueScope Recycling buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service.A Maintenance Technician II works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function and has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The Maintenance Technician II maintains and services the plant and mobile equipment in the scrap yard.Duties and Responsibilities:Conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate replacement equipment and identify wear and damage.Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.Orders parts needed for replacement and coordinates with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs, conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate equipment for replacement, and identifies wear and damage.Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment; primarily loaders, shears, grapple, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailer, shredder, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, PLC's. Welds, grinding, weld set-up, and torching.Sets up and breaks down machinery as needed.Uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system to track and document activities.Follows established safety procedures and regulations for hazardous materials handling.Required Qualifications:3-5+ years of related experience or may need 2+ years' experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.Requires a high school diploma.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Physical Requirements:Sit, stand, walk, and stoop for long periods of time.Able to climb in/on mobile equipment.Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather.Quantitative Scope:No budget responsibility.No direct/indirect reports.Work authorization:No sponsorship available.Additional Information: The preceding job responsibilities and tasks were designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by associates in this job.
