Position Overview

We are seeking to hire a group of board-certified/board-eligible OB/GYNs to provide off-site gynecology call coverage supporting inpatient and surgical gynecology needs. 

\n

This role is designed as a second-line escalation and surgical support function , partnering closely with the on-site laborist and CNM teams, who manage initial patient evaluation and triage.  Outpatient follow-up is handled by community GYN physicians. 

\n

The physicians will be available within a 30-minute call radius to provide timely, high-quality surgical and inpatient gynecologic care when escalation is required. 

\n

Core Responsibilities

\n

On-Call Gynecology Coverage

\n

\n
• Provide off-site call coverage for:
\n
\n
• Inpatient gynecology consults
\n
• Escalated cases from on-site laborists/CNMs
\n
• Urgent and emergent surgical gynecology needs with post-op management
\n
• Daily Post-Op/Inpatient rounding and discharge
\n
\n
• Maintain ≤30-minute response time from notification to hospital arrival
\n

\n

Surgical Care

\n

\n
• Perform urgent/emergent GYN procedures including:
\n
\n
• Dilation & curettage (D&C)
\n
• Laparoscopy (ectopic pregnancy, ovarian torsion, cystectomy)
\n
• Management of gynecologic hemorrhage
\n
• Hysterectomy
\n
\n
• Work with anesthesia, OR teams, and nursing staff to ensure efficient case flow
\n

\n

Laborist & CNM Support

\n

\n
• Serve as backup GYN surgeon for:
\n
\n
• OB hospitalist (laborist) team
\n
• Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs)
\n
\n
• Respond to cases requiring surgical intervention or higher-acuity management beyond scope of on-site team
\n
• Assist with cesarean hysterectomy
\n

\n

Care Coordination

\n

\n
• Communicate with:
\n
\n
• Patient’s primary OBGYN (when applicable)
\n
• Hospital care teams
\n
\n
• Ensure appropriate handoff and post-operative care planning
\n

\n

Schedule & Coverage Model

\n

\n
• Shift-based call coverage (12- or 24-hour blocks)
\n
• Off-site call with required 30-minute response time
\n
• Flexible scheduling (weekday, weekend, and/or nights)
\n
• No routine clinic responsibilities
\n
• Opportunity to work with OBGYN residents
\n

Compensation Structure

\n

Shift-Based

\n

\n
• Flat rate per call shift
\n
• Rate negotiable and open to keeping your own billing
\n
• Malpractice is included (claims-made) and we will cover the tail
\n

\n

Qualifications

\n

\n
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
\n
• Active or eligible for Nevada medical license
\n
• Demonstrated competency in emergent gynecologic surgery
\n
• Ability to work independently in a hospital-based setting
\n
• Strong collaboration with laborist and midwifery teams
\n

Preferred Experience

\n

\n
• Prior hospital-based or laborist experience
\n
• Experience managing escalated surgical GYN cases
\n
• Comfort with rapid operative decision-making
\n

\n
