Electrical Project Engineer | Ann Arbor, MI

IMEG is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our Electrical team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In this role, you will lead design efforts and manage low to moderate complexity projects, collaborating with senior staff on larger, high-complexity assignments. You’ll work closely with engineers and consultants to deliver innovative electrical engineering solutions for building systems, ensuring projects meet client expectations and IMEG’s high standards. Advance your career by shaping resilient, high-impact electrical systems with a national leader in engineering innovation.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead design efforts for electrical systems analysis, creating detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code and IMEG standards.Interact with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong relationships.Manage project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives.Document design decisions and monitor project progress relative to budget and percent complete.Analyze engineering problems, propose solutions, and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants.Conduct in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes.Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering.Prioritize safety and identify potential risks in all engineering work.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions.Identify project issues and seek guidance from the Project Manager.Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases.Required Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) License required5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industryProficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings.Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; energy code compliance and software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam RevuKnowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards.Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, Building Information Model software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.Strong training and mentoring skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays This position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join UsIMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact.
