Data Center Technician

Job Overview Join our dynamic AWS team and become a critical guardian of global cloud infrastructure. As a Data Center Technician, you will install server racks, perform hardware break‑fix, troubleshoot network issues, respond to operational incidents, and maintain service availability across AWS data centers. Physical Requirements Lifting and moving material up to 40 pounds each Working in cramped and/or elevated locations Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely Working in an industrial environment Longer shifts (over 8 hours) to support 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays Potential travel to established locations for training until the assigned facility is fully operational Key Responsibilities Perform server rack installations and hardware break‑fix on various components Troubleshoot network issues and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability Conduct routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors Participate in on‑call duties and scheduled maintenance and change management activities Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues Help interview, train, and onboard new team members Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting Act independently and innovate processes to improve effectiveness Basic Qualifications 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience 18+ months of Layer 1/2 networking experience (including troubleshooting and repair) Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends, nights, and holidays Preferred Qualifications Experience in a data center or other critical environment Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT‑related field (e.g., computer science, network engineering) Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+) Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience Experience training and onboarding of new team members Additional Information Note: Amazon does not sponsor immigration for this role, including for H‑1B, TN, and other non‑immigrant visas. The base salary range for this position is listed below. The Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
