Overview Job Title: System Administrator Location: Arnold AFB, TN Job Family Code: P – IT / Cyber Security / Network Systems Function/Branch: Engineering / Infrastructure Directorate: Engineering Tech & Support Position Type: Regular, Full-Time Pay Type: Exempt Grade: L06 (PA0618) – L07 (PA0717) Salary Range: Grade 06: $64,000 - $84,000 / year; Grade 07: $75,000 - $100,000 Job Summary Beyond New Horizons (BNH) is a joint venture of Astrion and Fluor Federal Services, Inc. that provides Test Operations and Sustainment services for the Arnold Engineering Development Complex. A System Administrator will support TOS II at Arnold Air Force Base, participating in design, support, and maintenance of data systems and peripherals for U.S. Air Force test operations. Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate may be required to work outside normal business hours. Job Duties Deploy, configure, and manage Windows and Linux environments using enterprise tools and scripting. Administer core server and network services including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP. Manage and maintain petabytes of infrastructure storage. Develop and deploy automation scripts to enhance operational efficiency. Implement and audit cybersecurity controls, including system hardening and vulnerability remediation. Provide Tier 1/2 troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues across diverse operating systems and virtualized environments. Support virtualization and containerization platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Podman). Execute end-to-end system maintenance, performance monitoring, patch management, and vulnerability assessments. Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies. Develop testing schedules and maintain documentation. Partner with ISSM to ensure policy compliance and stay current with emerging technologies. Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Grade 06: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or 4 years of relevant experience. Grade 07: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience, or 7 years of relevant experience. Current U.S. citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications Active DoD secret or higher-level clearance. Current CompTIA Security+ certification. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills. Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment. Expertise in configuring Windows Server and enterprise storage solutions. Proficiency managing DNS, DHCP, and network services. Skilled in PowerShell, Bash, and Python scripting. Understanding of virtualization (Hyper‑V, VMware). Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SSH) and security practices. Effective communicator with technical documentation skills.
