Position Overview This is a developmental position; duties are carried out at the GS‑06 grade level and, upon full performance, at the GS‑07 level. Responsibilities Respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service. Provide sworn testimony in criminal and traffic courts based on investigative findings. Conduct traffic law enforcement patrols using specialized equipment such as radar, lidar, and breathalyzers. Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installations, internal compounds, and incident perimeter posts. Requirements Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination via a completed background investigation. Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Successfully graduate from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy within 12 months of hire, or be a current employee grandfathered per AR 190‑56. Pass all law‑enforcement related training, certification, and qualification requirements as prescribed by policy, regulations, or statutes. Pass a pre‑employment medical evaluation at hire and annually thereafter. Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter. Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP). Pass pre‑employment drug testing at hire and annually or randomly thereafter. Applicants convicted of a misdemeanor or felony domestic‑violence crime are ineligible per the Lautenberg Amendment. Continue duties during a crisis or inclement weather until relieved by proper authority. Possess a valid state driver’s license and a government motor vehicle operator’s license. Work irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime and emergency recall may be required. Up to 10% of time may be required for temporary duty (TDY). Potential civil action due to improper exercises of authority or use of force. Federal law requires removal of federal law‑enforcement officers convicted of felonies. Qualifications U.S. citizen. GS‑06: One year of specialized experience maintaining order and protecting life/property, responding to emergency calls, and completing police/security reports or forms (typical of GS‑05). GS‑07: One year of specialized experience performing law‑enforcement work involving basic laws, regulations, operations, practices, and techniques, with responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life/property (typical of GS‑06). Qualification must be met using experience alone; no substitution of education is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. Proof of U.S. citizenship is required. One‑year probationary period will be used to evaluate fitness and public‑interest advancement. Direct deposit of pay is required.
