Imaging Support Specialist

Job Summary The Imaging Support Specialist greets patients, checks them into the Radiology Information System (RIS), verifies insurance and orders, schedules exams, handles telephone calls, processes paperwork and reports, and fulfills image requests. The role requires independent work with minimal supervision in a busy, high‑traffic customer service environment. The specialist interacts with patients, physicians, and staff to provide accurate, timely imaging information. Essential Job Responsibilities Greets patients and visitors courteously. Completes data entry of exams into RIS accurately. Verifies orders and diagnoses are complete, accurate, and covered by insurance. Handles patient inquiries, imaging compliance, and other support functions concurrently. Releases images via disc and cloud and imports outside images into PACS. Performs quality assurance activities within the department. Schedules patients for exams via phone, in‑person, and electronically. Assists with additional duties as assigned or requested. Job Qualifications Basic understanding of medical terminology. Basic understanding of ICD‑10 coding. \l Excellent phone and customer service skills. Proficient use of computer software, telephone systems, and general office equipment. High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
