IT Project Manager - COBOL Upgrade

IT Project Manager to support a vendor-delivered COBOL platform upgrade for a client in the insurance industry. This is a 6-9 month contract engagement focused on delivery governance, vendor management, and overall project execution. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, risk management, budget oversight, and ensuring vendors meet contractual obligations and delivery expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end delivery of a vendor-led COBOL upgrade
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets
- Serve as liaison between internal teams and third-party vendors
- Hold vendors accountable to SLAs and milestones
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues
- Provide regular project status and executive updates
- 8+ years of IT Project Management experience
- Strong vendor management and governance background
- Experience with mainframe or COBOL initiatives
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in insurance or financial services preferred
