This role is responsible for laying out, fitting, welding, and fabricating metal weldments and assemblies based on work orders, blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently across different projects with minimal supervision.ResponsibilitiesPerform MIG, TIG, stick, and other welding processesFit and fabricate structural weldments using proper shop practicesWeld according to established Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work ordersPerform complicated layouts, fit-up, checking, and straighteningUse measuring instruments to verify work and inspect finished weldmentsOperate hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipmentOperate equipment including plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, saws, mag drills, drill presses, etc.Safely rig and move heavy structures using forklifts and overhead cranesWork with other departments to complete projects efficientlyMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaDocument work progress and complete projects within required deadlinesFollow all applicable safety requirements and proceduresWork independently while communicating effectively with shop management and team membersQualificationsWelding, fabrication, fitting, and layout experienceAbility to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawingsStrong understanding of welding and structural fabrication practicesAbility to use measurement and inspection equipmentBasic math skillsAbility to operate a forklift and overhead craneAbility to safely lift up to 75 lbs.Must own standard tools xhyhwjd appropriate for the positionAbility to pass a welding testPreferredAWS Certified WelderExperience welding steel, stainless steel, and aluminumQualified to weld in all positionsExperience with complex fabrication layouts and straighteningWhat We're Looking ForDependable and safety-consciousStrong attention to detailAble to manage multiple projects and meet deadlinesComfortable working in a fast-paced shop environmentAble to work independently with minimal supervisionProfessional communication and teamwork skills
