Regional Pediatric Hospitalist-1

Overview Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking Pediatric Hospitalists to join our experienced and growing team of regional providers north of Columbus. Hospitalists working at this location are employees of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Full‑time (eight24‑hour shifts per month) and part‑time positions are available. Essential Functions Attend high‑risk deliveries and C‑sections, admissions, and daily rounding on Special Care Nursery (levelI) and well‑baby (mother/infant) units. Daily rounding on the pediatric inpatient unit and general pediatric Emergency Department consultations for admissions and/or transfers. Perform procedures such as intubation, surfactant administration, insertion of umbilical lines, circumcisions, chest tube/needle decompressions, and neonatal resuscitation. Conduct patient assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals. Communicate with patients and families, providing education and support, and maintain accurate medical records. Participate in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as required. Stay current with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care. Qualifications & Certifications Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (M.D. or D.O.) – required. Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable – required. Medical license in the State of Ohio – required. Unrestricted licensed physician – required. Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics – required. Board certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required. Board eligibility or certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine is not required. Physical & Work‑Environment Requirements Occasionally: Bend/twist Exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids, chemicals, medications, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, fumes, gases, vapors. Flexing/extending of neck. Lifting or carrying loads of 0–10lbs, 11–20lbs, 21–40lbs. Patient equipment tasks such as pushing/pulling 0–25lbs and reaching above shoulder. Squatting/kneeling frequently. Computer skills; hand use involving grasping, gripping, turning, repetitive hand/arm use, sitting, standing, walking. Continuously: Audible speech. Color vision. Decision making. Depth perception. Hearing acuity. Interpreting data. Peripheral vision. Problem solving. Visual acuity at both far and near distances. Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment.
