Youth Development Manager, Alpha - $200,000/year USD

As a Lead Guide, your mission is to develop the team that brings this model to life—mentoring Guides, cultivating emerging leaders, and establishing an environment where students routinely surpass expectations. This is neither an instructional coaching position nor a conventional teaching role. You won't be reviewing lesson plans or observing lectures—those don't exist here. Instead, your focus will be building a culture rooted in excellence: coaching your team of Guides, facilitating dynamic life skills workshops, and inspiring students toward ambitious achievement. Performance will be evaluated through the quality of student experiences, team effectiveness, and your capacity to uphold rigorous standards while motivating others to reach them. What You Will Be Doing Coaching Guides to reliably provide outstanding student experiences while upholding Alpha's rigorous standards. Facilitating compelling life skills workshops that build communication, leadership, concentration, and other practical competencies for K-12 students. Inspiring students to reach ambitious learning objectives and optimize progress within their self-paced academic programs. Leveraging data, direct observation, and coaching dialogues to enhance Guide effectiveness and student results. Supporting the launch and establishment of new Alpha campuses by fostering a culture grounded in excellence, accountability, and ongoing development. What You Won’t Be Doing Delivering traditional academic instruction or subject-specific lectures. Developing lesson plans or designing academic curriculum. Compromising standards to create artificial feelings of success rather than facilitating genuine mastery. Leading a team remotely from an office without direct, regular involvement in coaching both students and Guides. Maintaining outdated methods simply because they represent established tradition. Youth Development Manager Key Responsibilities Guarantee that every student consistently receives Alpha's three core promises by developing high-performing Guides, facilitating dynamic life skills experiences, and sustaining rigorous standards for student achievement. Basic Requirements Willingness to work on-site at an Alpha campus (relocation assistance available): Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Orange County, CA; Santa Barbara, CA Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, coaching, learning and development, or a comparable leadership capacity. Proven experience leading and developing teams of five or more individuals, including responsibility for hiring and performance-based termination decisions. Verified track record of using data to drive improvements in performance. Experience working with children ages 5-14 within an educational, coaching, or developmental context. Background in building or launching a new team, program, business, school, or initiative, with readiness to contribute to opening a new campus from the ground up. Commitment to working in a school model that rejects traditional lecture-based instruction. Legal authorization to work in the United States. Nice-to-have Requirements Background coaching youth through athletics, debate, camps, or extracurricular activities. Outstanding public speaking and storytelling abilities. Documented history of achieving elevated levels of academic, professional, or athletic performance. Experience driving teams toward ambitious objectives while maintaining strong accountability. Enthusiasm for questioning conventional education models and contributing to a reimagined approach to K-12 learning.
