EHS Manager

Job Description The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) role focuses on ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, developing and administering safety programs, and promoting safe behaviors across the organization. Responsibilities Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and keep abreast of regulatory changes. Design, develop, coach, train, and administer EHS systems and programs. Serve as the primary contact with federal, state, and regulatory bodies. Support site managers in providing safe work environments and promoting safe behaviors across departments. Act as the site-level liaison with corporate EHS. Conduct frequent audits and ensure all personnel are trained to meet safety procedures and standards. Perform duties in a safe manner and act as a role model for all employees. Assume a leadership role to maintain a vibrant environmental, health, and safety training program. Coordinate and lead the EHS Framework to establish and direct safety programs and activities. Lead activities in the plant behavior-based safety program, monitor participation, and provide guidance to employees. Conduct training to ensure understanding of program goals and requirements. Participate and lead employee improvement teams to emphasize safety, housekeeping, and cost reduction. Maintain accurate and complete EHS records in accordance with governing regulations and company policies. Ensure OSHA record‑keeping and reporting requirements are met. Oversee case management of Workers Compensation cases and work closely with insurers and adjustors. Conduct incident/accident investigations, including root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Train management personnel on incident investigations and proper documentation. Act as the primary contact for OSHA inspections and incident/accident audits. Measure plant performance, benchmarking against best-in-class manufacturing, and create improvement plans. Conduct EHS program training for all employees and develop new training programs as needed. Participate in new‑hire orientation by conducting required safety training. Perform worksite and incident trend analysis to sustain a comprehensive hazard prevention and control system. Lead risk assessment activities to identify potential safety concerns. Prepare, maintain, and update environmental policies and procedures to ensure proper documentation. Administrate the site Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and train plant personnel on emergency response procedures. Serve as the primary contact with all regulatory bodies, interfacing between them and corporate personnel, insurers, and legal representatives. Maintain the SDS program and ensure all employees are trained in its use. Monitor and approve all chemicals used in the plant, ensuring proper labeling and storage. May be assigned responsibility for multiple sites and provide support and direction to all assigned sites. Perform other duties as may be assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements: 4‑year degree in safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, or safety engineering. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. 4‑7 years of directly related experience in the EH&S field or a related area. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Desirable certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or ability to obtain such certifications.
