Role: Staff Accountant - Contract

Location: Marietta, GA

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: Approximately 6 months

Schedule: Full-time, onsite, Monday–Friday

Rate: $35- $45 / hr

About the Role

This is a cash and bank reconciliation-focused accounting role sitting within a large, structured corporate accounting environment. The day-to-day work centers on high-volume cash activity across multiple accounts — processing reconciliations, identifying exceptions, and actually digging into why something doesn't tie rather than flagging it and moving on. If you have owned bank reconciliations, are comfortable working through messy transactional data, and can trace a discrepancy back to its root cause independently, this is a strong fit.

What You'll Be Doing

• Own reconciliation activity across a large portfolio of cash and bank accounts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
• Investigate and clear open items including unposted transactions, timing gaps, unidentified cash, and unresolved variances
• Navigate large volumes of transactional data in Excel to surface exceptions and inconsistencies that require follow-up
• Follow discrepancies through the accounting cycle to identify where and why a break occurred — and see it through to resolution
• Record journal entries and build supporting documentation tied to cash-related accounting activity
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams across Treasury, billing, operations, and AR to clear outstanding items
• Contribute to balance sheet close and period-end reconciliation activity
• Keep reconciliation files audit-ready and organized at all times
• Flag workflow inefficiencies and contribute to efforts to simplify and strengthen the reconciliation process

What We're Looking For

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Direct experience owning cash or bank reconciliations — not just supporting someone else who did
• Working knowledge of the general ledger and how cash transactions flow through it
• Comfortable preparing and researching journal entries tied to cash activity
• Experience closing books and supporting period-end reconciliation processes
• Strong Excel skills — pivot tables, large data sets, high transaction volumes
• The kind of person who follows a problem all the way to the answer rather than escalating at the first sign of complexity
• Clear communicator who can work across departments without losing track of their own workload

Preferred

• Workday Financials experience
• Background in a multi-entity or high-volume cash environment
• Exposure to AR or Treasury functions
• Familiarity with data and reporting tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, or Tableau
• Experience participating in process improvement, automation, or ERP transformation projects
• CPA or actively pursuing CPA licensure
