Major responsibilities Place orders with vendors according to planned manufacturing schedules. Research and evaluate various vendors to determine the best price/quality and availability. Ensure materials are purchased at best possible price by conducting research and analysis of vendors and costs. Prepare, report, and implement Request for Quotation (RFQ) for general purchasing. Select, develop, and manage supply base for General Purchasing products and services by: Preparing Request for Quotations (RFQ) for user department requirements. Negotiating spot purchases and long-term agreements. Maintaining competitive pricing. Leading yearly cost reduction activities. Monitoring supplier quality and delivery performance. Formulate and implement yearly commodity and supply base strategy. Work closely with suppliers to optimize supplier processes. Explore available technology and implement best practices related to purchasing activities. Plan, organize, track, and disseminate information related to General Purchasing suppliers. WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE Minimum: Bachelor’s degree (all majors) Solid Excel and computer skills Deep understanding of external market and current trends Experience in General Purchasing Domestic / International travel required. Preferred: Job related experience in Automotive or related Industry. Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) designation preferred.
