Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day or Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in Cardiovascular ICU preferred License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Epic experience Previous travel experience preferred 22 years of cardiac ICU experience preferred Description: This position requires weekdays and some weekends. There will be rotating holidays. The nurse is required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity. Scheduled shifts are from 7 AM to 7:30 PM or 7 PM to 7:30 AM. There is a minimum of 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule. No call is required. Travelers will not rotate more than once every 4 weeks. Patient ratios are estimated to be 1:1. Skills required include IV start, telemetry, ventilators, Swanz, conscious sedation, balloon pumps, and PA line management. Epic experience is required. This role involves the care of patients on ECMO, ventilated patients, and managing arterial lines, among other critical care responsibilities. The nurse will also assist with the insertion and removal of chest tubes, administer blood products, and monitor central venous pressure. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in interpreting dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases. Nurses will be expected to manage patients with multi-system organ dysfunction and use advanced monitoring equipment. Special equipment used includes ECMO, IABP, and temporary pacemakers. Patient diagnoses can include heart failure, stroke, acute respiratory distress, renal impairment, and unstable dysrhythmias. This role requires adherence to strict compliance and credentialing guidelines throughout the hiring process. Two professional references, including at least one from a manager, are required. Candidates must have graduated from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.
