Details Emergency Department setting within a Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, and Teaching Hospital Approximately 60%-80% of the ED is admitted, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding Increased volume of admit holds currently being experienced Patient ratio of 1:5 Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM 36 or 48 hour contracts available, with 48 hours applicable only to travelers with both Level 1 trauma and travel experience Weekend scheduling required as needed (weekend days are Saturday/Sunday, weekend nights are Friday/Saturday/Sunday) Floating to Peds ED is optional; floating to Adult PCUs is expected based on staffing needs; potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma No on-call requirements Uses Cerner for charting Black scrubs required (not provided) No fee for parking Requirements Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact); pending licenses accepted at submission Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC required prior to submission) RQI certifications not accepted Minimum 2 years of ER experience required; candidates with 1.5 years may be considered Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience strongly preferred Travel experience strongly preferred, though candidates with 2 years of Level 1 trauma experience may be considered without travel experience Previous charge experience preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Cerner charting experience preferred Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, and triage required Trauma/resuscitation experience required Non-local driver's license required for candidates outside the local radius Additional Information Administer medications including IV medications following the seven rights of medication administration Document and communicate clinical findings Provide care for trauma patients including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and neuro-trauma cases Support STEMI and Stroke Certified Facility protocols Work within a Level I Trauma Center environment with high-acuity patient care Holiday coverage required for 2 of the 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve & New Year's Day Christmas RTO is not permitted RTO requests greater than 7 days require approval, with a maximum of 7 days preferred and no RTO during the first or last 7 days of the contract COVID vaccine is optional, but candidates must upload vaccination series or declination First-time travelers may be considered if they have 2 years of Level 1 trauma experience, though travel experience is strongly preferred Candidates must live outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be eligible Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning Travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached one year require a 6-month system break Contract length minimum of 10 weeks for new contracts and extensions American Traveler Job ID P-746395.
