Senior UX Designer

The Senior UX Designer is responsible for creating user-friendly, visually appealing, and effective interfaces across various digital platforms. This role involves designing the overall product functionality to ensure an excellent user experience through iterative user testing and research. The designer will lead UX projects, conduct user research, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive and accessible digital solutions optimized for a wide range of devices. Responsibilities:

• Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces.
• Design overall product functionality to ensure a great user experience and iterate based on user testing.
• Design user interfaces for digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials.
• Apply a user-centered design approach, rapidly testing and iterating designs.
• Conduct user research, interviews, and surveys; translate findings into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Lead UX projects, design workshops, and alignment sessions with stakeholders and business users.
• Facilitate the client s product vision through research, sketching, prototyping, and user testing.
• Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
• Gather user feedback to improve existing interfaces.
• Manage competing priorities and maintain strong client relationships.

• Relevant experience creating GUI designs based on user interaction and performance.
• Experience as a UX designer, interactive designer, UI designer, or similar role for web and mobile applications.
• Ability to define and lead UX projects and workshops with stakeholders and business users.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Canva.
• Thorough understanding of web development technologies and their limitations.
• Experience conducting end-to-end user research, including recruiting and synthesis.
• Experience designing wireframes, user stories, user flows, user journeys, mockups, and prototypes optimized for multiple devices.
• Strong collaboration skills working with developers, QA specialists, and business stakeholders.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation.
• Track record of meeting deadlines and managing priorities.

• Knowledge of accessibility testing and designing to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
• Experience working with the Ontario Design System and digital service standards.
• Experience handling complex design challenges involving legacy systems and nuanced stakeholder relationships.
• Prior experience in public service or Ontario Public Service (OPS).
• Experience with UI/UX research methods such as wireframing, surveys, questionnaires, and consultations.
