Title: Seat Design Release Engineer
Location: Plymouth, MI
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Design & Release Engineer (DRE) for automotive seating components.
- Design automotive seating component parts using CATIA V6 .
- Develop, validate, and execute seating system requirements for passenger vehicles, including cars and SUVs.
- Design, complete, and release seating components, sub-systems, and detailed parts such as:
- Seat Back Frame
- Cushion Frame
- Foam
- Trim
- Plastic Components
- Collaborate with seat component suppliers to support vehicle development milestones, prototype builds, and production launch activities.
- Conduct feasibility studies and packaging analysis to ensure design compliance and manufacturability.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes to optimize product design and production.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of seating systems that meet quality, cost, and performance targets.
- Possess a strong understanding of plastic and metal tooling, including design considerations for manufacturing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and development of automotive seating components.
- Hands-on experience with CATIA V6 for component and assembly design.
- Strong knowledge of automotive seating systems and Design & Release (DRE) processes.
- Experience with feasibility analysis, packaging studies, and manufacturing technologies.
- In-depth understanding of plastic injection molding and metal stamping/tooling processes.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.
