We are seeking an experienced Intake Coordinator to join our busy multi-location neurology practice. This is not an entry-level position . The ideal candidate will have experience processing incoming referrals, entering patient demographics, verifying insurance information, and ensuring referrals are complete and accurate before scheduling. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of medical insurance, managed care, referrals, and authorizations, along with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of medical intake, referral coordination, or insurance verification experience in a physician practice or specialty clinic.
• HMO and PPO insurance plans
• Medicare and Medicare Advantage
• Medi-Cal
• Commercial insurance plans
• IPA/Medical Groups
• Referral and authorization requirements
• Experience reviewing and processing medical referrals.
• Ability to verify CPT and diagnosis codes for completeness.
• Excellent data entry and computer skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload while meeting productivity expectations.

Responsibilities: 

• Receive and process incoming referrals from physician offices, hospitals, and other healthcare providers.
• Enter patient demographics accurately into the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Review referrals for completeness and accuracy.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Understand HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medi-Cal, commercial insurance plans, and IPA/medical group requirements.
• Verify PCP assignments, medical groups, and referral requirements.
• Review referrals to ensure appropriate CPT and diagnosis codes are included.
• Identify missing or incorrect information and communicate with referring providers to obtain necessary documentation.
• Confirm that authorizations and referrals meet payer requirements.
• Document referral information accurately in the EMR.
• Reach out to patient to schedule the appointment.
• Maintain productivity while ensuring a high level of accuracy.
