RESIDENTIAL SAFETY ASSOCIATE

Job Title: Residential Safety Associate Location: Newark, NY Department: Restart Residential Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours Schedule: Sun‑Thurs OR Tues‑Sat 9am‑5pm OR 12pm‑8pm Salary: $19.25/hr. General Description Under general supervision, provides a safe, therapeutic environment for residents through medication management, recreation and facility management, in addition to other residential activities for clients. Maintains confidentiality and ethical standards as identified by the NYS OASAS and other governing bodies. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication among all program staff and ensures a trauma‑informed care environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitors residents to assure a safe therapeutic environment. Conducts personal and property searches for clients re‑entering the facility, including those participating in activities outside the building. Performs full search procedures, which may include having clients change into scrubs and searching clothing worn at the time of leaving building. Conducts room and personal belonging searches to ensure safety of the environment and program participants. Makes hourly visual contact with residents and documents findings in client observation records. Assists in discharge planning to ensure a safe transition, planned or unplanned. Consults Clinical Manager when clinical concerns arise with a client. Debriefs relevant information to incoming employees during shift exchange; conducts visible rounds to ensure all residents are accounted for and environment is safe at beginning and end of each shift. Carries out emergency procedures to assure safety of residents and staff when required. Notifies Residence Manager of any emergency situations immediately. Completes and maintains all necessary documentation in compliance with the agency and appropriate regulatory standards. Completes incident reports, documenting any unusual incidents or situations as needed. Participates in relevant agency meetings and/or trainings. Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job role performance through reading, supervision, in‑service training and attendance at conferences and workshops. Supports the Agency’s Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan, including initiatives of collaboration, community focus, innovation, entrepreneurship, cultural competence and diversity. Other duties as assigned. Education and Qualifications Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Valid and clean NYS driver’s license. Recovery peer advocate training preferred. Experience working with substance use disorder clients and/or mental health services preferred. Bilingual in Spanish also preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
