Scheduling & Registration Associate - Ambulatory Surgery Center - Manhasset OR

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Scheduling & Registration Associate – Ambulatory Surgery Center – Manhasset OR. In this role, the successful candidate schedules appointments in Hospital Information Systems, liaises with referring physician office staff, answers and filters phone calls, uses Cyracom when necessary, and completes the pre‑registration and registration process. The associate creates the first impression of the institution’s services to patients, families, and other external customers, obtains demographic information, prescriptions, medical documents, and insurance information, and ensures that patients understand their financial responsibilities. The associate assumes clinical and financial risk for the organization when collecting and documenting information on behalf of the patient. Job Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Schedules patient appointments; may call patients to confirm appointment details, location, required items, and any preparation instructions. Communicates with patients, referring physician offices, and fellow staff members in a helpful, friendly and professional manner; answers and filters phone calls promptly; understands phone functions including receiving, directing, forwarding, and transferring calls, and uses Cyracom for patients who prefer languages other than English. Completes check‑in and registration when patients arrive, including using the RELATE model for communication with patients and their families; informs patients or their representatives of regulations surrounding required consents at the time of registration or thereafter; collects co‑pays or other patient responsibilities per hospital point‑of‑service collection policies and procedures. Verifies documentation for accuracy, including prescriptions, insurance cards, photo IDs, and thorough patient index searches to avoid duplication of medical record numbers. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent. 1–2 years of customer service experience. Strong communication skills (oral and written), multitasking, detail orientation, organizational ability, excellent customer service, and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook). Knowledge of medical terminology. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of scheduling experience in a medical office or healthcare facility setting.
