CRM Designer, Email & Front-End Specialist

We are hiring a hands-on CRM Designer for a top client in the media/publishing space with a strong front-end lens — someone who specializes in email design and development and is fluent in CRM lifecycle marketing, while also being able to design and build display banners and other performance assets that connect across the full consumer lifecycle. This role sits at the intersection of design craft and front-end execution, translating brand creative into high-performing, technically sound assets across email, site, app, and paid/display on CRM/lifecycle. The ideal candidate keeps email design sharp and on par with the competitive market and emerging best practices, brings genuine excitement for pitching fresh, new ideas, and stays adaptable and curious about how AI is reshaping tools and workflows on the design and production side.

• Pay Rate: $46/HR on W2
• Contract: Through January 2027, with potential to extend
• Schedule: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote

Responsibilities:

Email & CRM Design/Development

• Design and build responsive, on-brand HTML emails optimized for rendering and deliverability across major email clients and devices.

Templates & Systems

• Develop and maintain modular, reusable email templates and CRM design systems within our ESP(s), such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Iterable, or similar, enabling faster and more consistent production across brands.

Lifecycle Creative

• Conceptualize, design, and develop captivating digital creative assets, including display banners, paid social creative, animations, video, and other multimedia content, for CRM channels (email, site, and app) across the full customer lifecycle, including acquisition, onboarding, engagement, retention, and win-back.

Front-End Execution

• Apply working front-end knowledge (HTML/CSS and basic JavaScript where relevant) to hand-code or troubleshoot email and web assets, ensuring pixel-accurate, cross-client and cross-browser execution.

Quality Assurance

• QA all email and digital assets using testing tools such as Litmus and Email on Acid prior to deployment, proactively identifying and resolving rendering issues.
• Ensure all visuals, messaging, and interactive elements align with the creative vision and meet individual brand standards across the portfolio.
• Follow strategic thinking and design principles in all aspects of creative development, delivering best-in-class designs that effectively drive consumer business growth.
• Collaborate with the Creative Leads and Project Management team to leverage data and analytics, gaining insight into creative and email performance and providing recommendations for asset updates to optimize results.
• Maintain regular communication with the Project Management team and colleagues, providing updates on project timelines and progress.
• Stay current with the competitive landscape, email/CRM best practices, front-end development trends, and emerging design and consumer revenue generation trends.
• Manage and organize raw media, code assets, and finished files, ensuring proper storage and backup for easy accessibility and retrieval by internal and external partners.

Required Qualifications:

Design Experience

• 4–5 years of proven experience as a designer, with demonstrated ability to create engaging, revenue-generating campaigns.
• Experience in a consumer-focused or revenue-driven environment is preferred, such as marketing, advertising, or e-commerce.

Email/CRM Specialization

• Hands-on experience designing and coding responsive HTML emails, with solid command of email-specific HTML/CSS constraints and cross-client rendering quirks, including Outlook, Gmail, and Apple Mail.
• Experience working within an ESP, such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, or Iterable, is strongly preferred.
• Strong email design is the bread and butter of this role — the core skill this position is built around.

AI Adaptability

• Curious and adaptable when it comes to AI on the systems/production side.
• Comfortable exploring and adopting AI-assisted design and email-development tools and staying current on how AI is shifting market trends and best practices in email so designs continue to perform.

Front-End Fluency

• Working knowledge of basic front-end development (HTML, CSS; JavaScript a plus) sufficient to build, adapt, or troubleshoot templated assets without full engineering support.

Display & Lifecycle Assets

• Experience designing display banners and other paid/digital ad assets to spec, including standard IAB sizes, file-weight constraints, and motion/static variants.
• Ability to adapt creative across lifecycle and CRM touchpoints.

Portfolio

• A strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of creative projects, ideally including email, CRM, and display/banner work, that demonstrates the ability to deliver high-quality designs and generate consumer engagement.

Design Fundamentals

• Comprehensive understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, and UX, to create visually appealing, user-friendly designs aligned with brand standards.

Communication & Collaboration

• Ability to communicate ideas clearly, participate actively in discussions, and work collaboratively with colleagues and the Creative Director.

Detail Orientation

• Strong attention to detail across design elements, messaging, code, and interactive features to ensure consistency with creative vision and brand standards.

Organization & Time Management

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize across multiple simultaneous projects, meet deadlines, and provide regular status updates.

Proactivity

• A proactive, adaptable attitude, staying current with industry trends and technologies and open to learning and implementing new design and front-end approaches.

Accessibility

• Knowledge of ADA-compliant and accessible email/web design is desired.

Motion & UX

• Adept at motion graphics and animation.
• Strong understanding of UX/UI design and social media principles, in addition to email/front-end skills.

Tools

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and After Effects.
• Working knowledge of G Suite and project management systems.
• Experience with email development/testing platforms such as Litmus and Email on Acid and an ESP is a plus.
