Overview

We are seeking a Desktop Support Technician with strong hands-on experience providing both desktop and help desk support in a fast-paced enterprise environment. This individual will support approximately 1,000 end users across primarily Windows-based systems, with limited Mac support, and will assist with user account administration, endpoint troubleshooting, and basic network issue resolution. The role requires occasional travel to local store locations throughout the Durham and Carrboro area.

• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 desktop and help desk support for end users across multiple locations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and application issues in a primarily Windows environment.
• Create, modify, disable, and manage user accounts and permissions.
• Perform password resets and support multi-factor authentication (MFA) enrollment and troubleshooting.
• Administer identity and access management tasks utilizing platforms such as Okta and/or Microsoft Entra ID.
• Diagnose and resolve workstation, laptop, printer, and peripheral issues.
• Support both onsite and remote users through ticketing systems, phone, email, and in-person interactions.
• Assist with device deployments, imaging, software installations, upgrades, and hardware refresh projects.
• Provide basic network troubleshooting, including diagnosing connectivity issues, modem/router reboots, link failures, and store network outages.
• Travel to Durham and Carrboro store locations as needed (approximately 20% of the time) to provide onsite technical support.
• Document incidents, resolutions, and knowledge base articles to improve support processes.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and security teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.

• 3-5 years of experience providing desktop support and help desk support in an enterprise environment.
• Experience supporting user account lifecycle management, including account creation, modifications, removals, password resets, and access requests.
• Hands-on experience supporting MFA solutions and identity management platforms such as Okta or Microsoft Entra ID.
• Strong troubleshooting skills supporting Windows-based desktop and laptop environments.
• Basic networking knowledge with the ability to assist in troubleshooting connectivity and network outage issues.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a support-focused environment.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally to support business locations.

• Experience with Microsoft Intune or other Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms.
• Experience supporting macOS devices.
• Exposure to endpoint management, device provisioning, and modern workplace technologies.
• Experience supporting organizations with 1,000+ users.

This role is ideal for a desktop support professional who enjoys a mix of hands-on technical troubleshooting, end-user support, and occasional onsite travel while supporting a large-scale enterprise environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carrboro, NC.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Carrboro,NC.
