Deputy Sheriff
The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill regular, full-time positions in the class of Deputy Sheriff at the Yolo County Sheriffs Office. This assignment will be to patrol an assigned area and enforce State and local laws; to receive and serve civil processes and subpoenas; to supervise inmates in the jail facility; to perform duties as a courtroom bailiff; and to perform other related duties as required.

Candidates currently attending a California P.O.S.T Law Enforcement Training Academy and near graduation are encouraged to apply. Employment will be contingent upon proof of P.O.S.T Basic Certification after completion of Academy training.
Essential functions include answering calls for the protection of life and property and the enforcement of State and local laws, observing assigned areas for suspicious acts and unsafe conditions, conducting preliminary investigations at scenes of accidents and crimes, preparing detailed reports of all activities, providing assistance to other Deputies and other law enforcement agencies as necessary, receiving and serving a variety of civil papers, making arrests in contempt proceedings, and performing other related duties as required.
Minimum qualifications include graduation from high school or possession of a GED, possession of a valid POST Basic Certificate issued by the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training, being at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment, being legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law, successfully passing a thorough background investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Department, not having been convicted of a felony, and being in good physical condition and passing a thorough medical and psychological examination prior to employment.
The application and selection process includes screening for minimum qualifications, a department selection interview, a behavioral assessment, a background investigation, a final interview with the Sheriff and/or the Sheriff's designee, and a conditional job offer pending a psychological and medical exam.
