Product Manager, Wireless Controls Location: Menomonee Falls, WI, US, 53051 Charlotte, NC, US, 28277 Requisition ID: 3050 Job Summary/Overview: The Product Manager, Wireless Controls reports to the Business Unit General Manager and is responsible for Radio Remote Controls and other wireless device product lines within Columbus McKinnon. These products are used to operate a variety of motion control equipment, including, but not limited to, overhead material handling, mobile hydraulic, conveyance, linear motion, monitoring and diagnostics. The Product Manager is responsible for the assigned product line(s) from conceptual discussions, design specifications and requirements, product pricing and margins. The Product Manager oversees product introduction and phase out, evaluates competitive products, strategies and markets, ensuring the organization is progressive and competitive in the markets served. The Product Manager closely interacts with Sales, NPD, Operations, Marketing, and Supply Chain in the performance of their wireless controls products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain competitive awareness of external market forces and technologies that impact the product line(s). Own product roadmaps for current and future product lines for strategic growth. Coordinate with sales to understand customer needs and translate market requests into product specifications. Collect Voice‑of‑Customer feedback from channel partners and end users regarding wireless control requirements. Work closely with NPD on product designs and technology. Collaborate with Operations/Supply Chain on demand planning, supplier relationships, quality and delivery. Apply the 80/20 process for product portfolio management, including Product Line Simplification (PLS) and Customer List Simplification (CLS). Conduct zero‑up profitability analysis and submit Product Development Proposals (PDP) with the Product Development Proposal Checklist (F‑PDPC). Prepare ROI analyses to justify product investments. Identify material and process cost‑reduction opportunities and recommend actions. Update product list pricing and implement changes in coordination with strategic pricing objectives. Establish market lead times for assigned products and assist internal processes to achieve them. Act as a technical expert, providing support to sales, application engineers, aftermarket, operations and quality assurance teams. Support training development and ensure completion of all sales/marketing and technical support documentation. Travel to customer sites and Columbus McKinnon facilities as needed. Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities Technical competence in wireless controls. Analytical skills to review data and make recommendations. Knowledge of financial reports and analysis, especially Income Statements, Product Line P&L reports and budgets. Ability to bring together cross‑functional teams to meet product objectives. Strategic thinking to develop annual strategies for assigned product lines. Required Qualifications BS preferred in a technical field such as Engineering. 5+ years of experience in product management. 5+ years of experience in material handling equipment.
